Blow the Whistle by Too $hort : (A Short Essay)
Too $hort is a pioneer of West Coast hip-hop. He's a vulgar rap artist from Oakland, California who is widely known for his pornographic music that is apologetically misogynistic.
He's a bit of a one-trick pony rapper with simple rhyme schemes, a redundant cadence and a never changing vocal tone. To his credit, he's released over 20 studio albums with a career that's spanned 40 years.
In 2006, Too $hort released his signature song, "Blow the Whistle", produced by Lil John. Since it's release two decades ago, the song has been sampled by Drake, Saweetie and G-Eazy. There's even a freestyle out there of witchcraft rapper Jay-Z rapping over the "Blow the Whistle" instrumental.
We'd love to see Nicki Minaj sample "Blow the Whistle" and expose the corruption of the music industry. She could even team up with producer Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones for an indubitable hit, as Rod's last commercial project was the GRAMMY-nominated "The Love Album: Off the Grid" by Sean "Diddy" Combs featuring The Weeknd, Justin Beiber, French Montana, Summer Walker, Ty Dollar $ign and more.
